generation of independent researchers requires that institutions set policies to encourage individual responsibility, foster effective mentoring, and recognize the value and contributions of postdoctoral scholars. The NPA recommends

"Growing Progress in Supporting Postdocs: 2021 National Postdoctoral Association Institutional Policy Report"
was written in collaboration with Sigma Xi and published in American Scientist. The report summarizes the results from a 2019 survey of 86 institutions that hire postdocs and hold NPA memberships. NPA members can also
view the NPA Institutional Policy Database which allows you to view the survey data online and view aggregate reports. Mentoring can have a profound influence of the success of postdoc scholars. This guide provides tools on developing and implementing mentoring plans at your institution. Many institutions understand the benefits of diversity and would like to enhance diversity among its students, faculty and staff, including postdocs. The long-term goal is to increase the diversity of STEM faculty. In order to move
