a number of events to offer during NPAW:
On Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the PDA is sponsoring a webinar entitled The Dos and Don’ts of Landing Your First Job.
Join us for a webinar on how to properly conduct your first job search. Transitioning from a postdoctoral trainee to full-time employee may seem like a daunting task but it is possible with a little planning and insider knowledge on what
to expect. Join us as we explore tips and strategies from toxicology experts across the different sectors on ways to help land your first permanent position. The panelists will touch on several topics including a basic timeline on
when to start searching for a job, what each sector looks for in a new employee, and where to find/how to apply for positions in their respective fields. Following a short presentation by each speaker, the discussion will open up to
participants to freely ask questions to the panelists.
Speakers:;
Dr. Nathan Cherrington—Professor at University of Arizona
Dr. Tammy Collins—Director of NIEHS Office of Fellows’ Career Development
Mr. Terry Leyden—President of the Leyden Group
Other highlights of the week include a blog series celebrating and reflecting on the postdoctoral experience. Articles will be published as SOT Communiqué
blogs for all to enjoy.
Through these events, the PDA joins the NPA in focusing attention on the contributions and achievements of postdoctoral scholars. We hope that all SOT members will take time during NPAW to acknowledge the postdocs in your communities and
institutions.
