Postdoctoral offices (PDOs) are a critical source of support for postdoctoral fellows at their home institutions and nationally. There are many benefits to establishing and maintaining an administrative home for postdoctoral training and education. This toolkit is intended to serve as a resource guide to assist administrators, faculty and postdocs in starting and sustaining an effective PDO. In this toolkit, you’ll find a wealth of information, including best practices shared from PDOs nationwide, suggestions on how to gain support from key institute administrators and how to organize career development and survival skills workshops. The NPA welcomes additions to this toolkit in the form of submissions from local PDOs that have important experiences to share that may be helpful to others.
