NPA Expands Collaboration with ASM & ABRCMS

The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) announced a new collaboration with the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) designed to increase the effectiveness of each organization and visibility to each other’s constituencies. The agreement expands participation in one another’s initiatives, including the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS), a project of ASM, and the NPA Annual Conference.

The new agreement provides opportunities to connect with each other’s members and audiences through live and online educational events, volunteer opportunities, and enhanced partner visibility. For example, for more than two decades, ABRCMS “has been the go-to conference for historically excluded communities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”

The enhanced collaboration with ASM is intended to advance several NPA strategic strategies, including:

support individuals from diverse backgrounds in pursuing and leveraging the postdoc experience to launch their careers
lead engagement of members and partners to promote a more sustainable postdoc experience
create opportunities for postdocs to explore broad career pathways and build skills to advance their careers.
