What is advocacy, and who should be involved in advocating on behalf of postdocs? Is there a difference between “grassroots” organizing and what institutions should/can be doing? Are there cautions of which to be aware before getting involved and implementing one’s own strategy? With the current political climate in the United States, more and more researchers are finding themselves interested in the answers to these questions. During this webinar, we will explore several different methods of involvement so that postdoctoral offices and associations have a better understanding of the process, timelines for working with legislative offices, and ideas for how to set up one’s own institutional/individual advocacy efforts. Join us on Friday, July 28 for a frank discussion on how science policy and advocacy work, and how PDOs/PDAs can help students get more resources and training.
