Most people find networking to build their professional network intimidating and therefore often shy away from this valuable activity. In this webinar, Propel will provide tips to take the stress out of this activity, so that you can easily develop relationships and make a positive first impression to enable you to grow your network and develop in your career. Propel will provide advice for how to start conversations and how to navigate conversations to keep the discussion flowing. Propel will also provide advice on how to develop an effective elevator pitch, so that the next time someone asks you, “what do you do?” you will have a concise but effective response. Lastly, Propel will provide advice on various ways to follow up so that you can cultivate the relationships you make now for years to come.

Lauren Celano, MBA, is the co-founder and CEO of Propel Careers, a life science search and career development firm in Boston, founded in 2009. She has worked with thousands of students, postdocs, medical residents and professionals to advance their careers. Before Propel, she spent about 10 years in life sciences advancing drug molecules through SNBL USA, Aptuit, Quintiles, and Absorption Systems. She has a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology from Gettysburg College, and a Master of Business Administration with a focus in the health sector and entrepreneurship from Boston University. She is on the board of MassBioEd and the advisory boards of the Boston University School of Public Health pharmaceuticals program, the professional science Masters program at Framingham State University and NE GWISE. She also serves on the selection committee for the Life Sciences Immigrant Entrepreneur of the Year Award since 2014 with the Immigrant Learning Center.
