Core Competencies Member Intro
Training for postdoctoral scholars in the US is largely determined by individual institutions or postdocs, and a unified perspective of a common skill set to be aquired during the postdoctoral training period has been lacking. To address this issue, the NPA’s Policy Committee has been working to create a guide for postdoctoral scholars and administrators that describes the core competencies that every postdoctoral scholar should have acquired over the course of his/her postgraduate training. The current version of this guide is being provided for commentary so that we may incorporate suggestions from our members in its final form. In a plenary session at the Annual Meeting on Sunday, April 27th, this guide will be presented and offered for critical commentary. For those who might be unable to attend this plenary session, we would invite you to provide comment on the document by May 2nd. The Policy Committee will be collating the comments and will be modifying the guide in the coming months.
