Overview
The NPA is streamlining its infrastructure to become a more efficient and collaborative organization. To meet this goal, the NPA is seeking ten strong leaders to manage the four new committees (Advocacy, Meetings, Outreach, and Resource Development) and to serve as special interest officers. The specific positions to be filled include 4 Committee Chairs, 4 Committee Vice Chairs, 1 Diversity Officer, and 1 International Officer.

Position Descriptions
Committee Chair
Each of the four Committees of the Membership (Advocacy, Meetings, Outreach, and Resource Development) will have a single Committee Chair who is responsible for leading each committee and conducting monthly meetings with the entire committee. The chair of each committee should be in regular contact with both the Diversity and International Officers to maintain continuity and avoid duplication of projects. The Committee Chair will be the public face of their committee for the NPA. The Chair will be expected to ensure that projects and tasks undertaken by the committee (as directed by the Board of Directors) are in accordance with the goals of the NPA as laid out in the Strategic, Business, and Annual Operating Plans, and that those projects and tasks are completed within a timely manner. The Chair will be responsible for orientation of new members of their committee, and will run the monthly committee teleconference. The Chair is also responsible for ensuring that agendas are created and minutes are taken for all committee meetings, and that a bimonthly Report to the Board of Directors is submitted to the Executive Director. The Chair will work with their Board Liaison when submitting action items to the Board of Directors. The Chair will also be expected to attend the Annual Meeting and other required meetings for committee leaders.
Committee Vice Chair
Each of the four Committees of the Membership (Advocacy, Meetings, Outreach, and Resource Development) will have a single Vice Chair who is responsible for assisting the chair with all of the duties listed above. The Chair and Vice Chair will work together to divide the tasks and responsibilities of the positions as he/she see fit. The Vice Chair will assume the role of the Chair in the event that the Chair is unable to fulfill their duties, until a permanent Chair is formally appointed by the Board of Directors.
Diversity Officer
The Diversity Officer will be the public face of diversity issues for the NPA. The Diversity Officer will be the primary resource and expert advisor for the Board of Directors, the Staff, and Committees of the Membership. To fulfill this role, the Diversity Officer is expected to monitor external policies and developments on diversity issues of concern to the postdoctoral community. The Diversity Officer will act as a liaison for the Board of Directors and be aware of any overarching projects among all Committees of the Membership. The Diversity Officer will sit in on select committee teleconferences, and, time permitting, may take part in committee project work. He/she must maintain regular contact with all Committees of the Membership. The Diversity Officer will be required to submit a bimonthly Report to the Board of Directors to the Executive Director. The Diversity Officer will be expected to attend the NPA Annual Meeting and other meetings required of all committee leadership.
International Officer
The International Officer will be the public face of International Postdoc issues for the NPA. The International Officer will be the primary resource and expert advisor for the Board of Directors, the Staff, and Committees of the Membership. To fulfill this role, the International Officer is expected to monitor external policies and developments on international issues of concern to the postdoctoral community. The International Officer will act as a liaison for the Board of Directors and be aware of any overarching projects among all Committees of the Membership. The International Officer will sit in on select committee teleconferences, and, time permitting, may take part in committee project work. He/she must maintain regular contact with all Committees of the Membership. The International Officer will be required to submit a bimonthly Report to the Board of Directors to the Executive Director. The International Officer will be expected to attend the NPA Annual Meeting and other meetings required of all committee leadership.

Eligibility & Requirements

Along with personal contact information, applicants will be required to submit an one page CV/resume emphasizing or listing leadership experience and a personal statement for each position of interest. You may apply to no more than three positions.
