Description

The objectives of the Policy Committee of the NPA are to (1) advocate for improvements in institutional and national policies affecting postdocs and (2) serve as a resource to the NPA Board of Directors, member committees, and NPA membership on policy issues.  The Policy Committee is specifically charged with implementing the NPA Strategic Plan through the following mechanisms:

  1. Providing databases of key policy documents (with summaries where appropriate), postdoc policy articles and institutional postdoc policies on the NPA website;
  2. Developing and writing NPA policy statements and position papers;
  3. Monitoring and ensuring NPA representation at key policy meetings;
  4. Collaborating with individuals, institutions, and agencies to effect changes in policies that affect postdocs;
  5. Monitoring national and institutional policies and news and relaying that information to the NPA leadership and membership.

Criteria to Serve

In order to serve on this committee you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Current membership in the NPA
  • Member of the NPA Advisory Board
