National Postdoctoral Association

Providing a national voice and seeking positive change for postdocs.

For foreign nationals who wish to do a postdoc in the USA, it is important that they understand how the US immigration process works, and keep up to date with any changes to visa regulations that affect them. It is also advisable for them to be knowledgeable about the problems that international postdocs are facing when applying for visas or entering the USA. This is particularly important since, over the past year, there have been increased reports of difficulties among foreign scientists in negotiating US immigration law. The International Postdoc Committee is monitoring scientific associations and the US Government to become more knowledgeable about how the visa system works, the problems that foreign scientists are facing, and to find out about proposed changes to visa regulations early so that they can keep NPA members informed and can contribute to the debate.
