The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) held it's inaugural annual meeting in conjunction with the Postdoc Network national meeting in March. The theme of the meeting was "What is a postdoc?" Representatives from postdoc associations and offices, disciplinary societies, and funding agencies participated in this important event.
Speakers included postdoc leaders from across the country and representatives of top policy groups, research institutions, professional societies, and non-profit institutions. The speakers addressed national postdoc policy issues and highlighted successful postdoc models.
A portion of the meeting was be devoted to addressing the organization and administration of the National
Postdoctoral Association, including the adoption of a constitution and bylaws and elections for Executive Board members.
Travel grants were awarded for 21 postdocs to attend the meeting, with funding provided by the NPA and Science NextWave's Postdoc Network.
