  The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) has established six core competencies to offer guidance to individual postdoctoral scholars who must seek out relevant training experiences, in collaboration with mentors, institutions, and other advisors who provide this training.

  NPA resources for the international postdoc in the U.S., including an International Postdoc Survival Guide, a Quick Guide to Visas, and a white paper on immigration reform.
  
  
• Mentoring Plans for Postdoctoral Scholars
  Resources for developing a mentoring plan for postdocs, including guidance on how to draft a mentoring plan with a suggested list of effective mentoring activities, a summary of NSF's mentoring requirements and an annotated resource guide.

  An online clearinghouse of information and resources on diversity issues in the scientific, academic, and research communities.
  
  
• NPA Reading List for Postdocs
  A reading list aimed at assisting postdocs in their professional development.
  
  
• Family-Friendly Resources for Postdocs
  Information and resources for postdocs on managing their family lives while furthering their research careers, including "A Postdoc's Guide to Pregnancy and Maternity Leave," a guide for women who are pregnant or planning for pregnancy during their postdoc.
