Several different options for Team Visit formats exist, designed to assist PDOs/PDAs at a variety of different stages of their development. For a guide on how to decide which option is most suitable, PDO/PDA officers can download and fill out the self-assessment worksheet for NPA Team Visit Program: Team Visit Worksheet. Whatever format you choose, we encourage you to think about ways of involving postdocs such that they may also benefit directly from a Team Visit.
-
Coaching Intensive: a team of NPA experts travels to your institution to provide direct, small-group advice and counseling on any issues of interest to various stakeholders. This might include NPA representation at round-table meetings with key decision-makers. Ideal for nascent PDAs and PDOs. Typically lasts 1-2 days.
-
Town Hall Meeting: an open-attendance event for all interested stakeholders at your institution; the agenda includes direct feedback and interaction with NPA experts in a workshop-style format. Lasts anywhere from 2 hours to half a day
-
Regional Summit: a gathering of PDA and PDO leadership from various institutions within a metropolitan or other local region, to exchange best practices, and hear from NPA experts in a public, large group setting. Half a day to a day is typical for this type of event.
-
Keynote Speaker: An NPA representative provides a formal presentation addressing issues of interest at a conference or other event. 1-2 hours.
-
Networking Reception: An NPA representative provides brief, informal remarks at a social event designed to promote postdocs involvement in the PDA and the NPA. 1-2 hours.
-
Create Your Own: The NPA is open to your request for a variation on any of the above elements or even something new, specifically targeted to the needs of your PDA/PDO.
The Table of Previous Team Visits provides examples of the formats previously chosen by NPA Team Visit hosts.
**Note: Completed Application form and an NPA Sustaining Membership are required for all Team Visit formats. If you are not currently a sustaining member, the NPA would still like to help. Contact us for more information.**
