The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) invites you to participate in the NPA's 2010 Annual Meeting Poster Session. The Annual Meeting will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 12-14. The Poster Session provides an excellent opportunity to inform other meeting attendees of unique programs or major Postdoc Association (PDA)/Postdoc Office (PDO) accomplishments at your institution.
Goals of the Poster Session
- To foster discussion and the exchange of ideas that will allow other institutions to emulate successful programs or to enhance their current programming.
- To provide a forum for newer PDAs or PDOs to solicit advice from the NPA's more experienced members.
Judging of the Posters
To recognize outstanding posters and poster session participants, we will be acknowledging the top 3 presenters with an award at the Philly Dinner Event on Saturday, March 13. Posters and presenters will be judged anonymously during the poster session. Judging criteria will be provided to participants in advance.

Examples of Appropriate Poster Content
Previous meeting participants have stated that they would have submitted an abstract had they known what was appropriate to present. Thus, we offer a few examples for poster topics in the list below. This list is not exhaustive; please feel free to submit posters on other relevant topics.
- Creating a PDA or PDO at your institution
- Increasing postdoctoral participation in the PDA
- Lobbying administration for money or a PDO position
- Creation of a career training seminar series, workshop or certification programs
- Implementing the mentor/mentee compact
- Strategies for a successful a PDO-PDA relationship
- Creating a postdoc orientation
- Organizing a career fair
- Strategies for fundraising through vendor shows
Submitting Your Poster Abstract
- To participate, please submit an abstract (250 word limit) using the form provided: Poster Abstract Submission Form 2010.
- Please note: Most posters will have several authors, but please designate one author as the main contact person.

Abstracts will be reviewed soon after the call closes on January 18, 2010, by the Poster Selection Committee. If chosen, we will contact you with details concerning the size and format of the poster.
