Bring RCR Home Project Print Email

Ending in early 2009, the NPA's "Bring RCR Home" project was a national initiative to foster programming on the responsible conduct of research (RCR) for postdoctoral scholars at their "home" research institutions.  Supported by the federal Office of Research Integrity, it aimed to support postdoc offices and associations in the development and execution of local programs tailored to the unique role postdocs play in the research enterprise.  Now completed supporting activities included workshops on how to create a dynamic RCR program, toolkits with examples and best practices, and seed grants to help fund the implementation of these programs.

There will be no 2009 Bring RCR Home seed grant competition.
If you are interested in being notified in the event that
seed grants become available in the future, e-mail
kflint(@nationalpostdoc.org) to join the NPA's RCR mailing list.

Workshops

The Bring RCR Home project offered workshops on how to create dynamic and effective programs on RCR that are targeted to postdocs.  Two workshops were held at the NPA Annual Meetings in 2007 in Berkeley, CA and in 2008 in Boston, MA. Slides from both workshops are available on the Workshops page.

Seed Grants

The project also offered seed grants of up to $1000 to help support the establishment of RCR programming directed at postdocs. Visit the Seed Grants project description page to see a list and description of the 2007 and 2008 awarded projects.

RCR Toolkit

To aid in developing programs in RCR for postdocs, the toolkit offers information and training advice on the RCR topics of emphasis listed above as well as suggested speaker lists, exemplary program models and samples of handouts and agendas.  The NPA RCR programming toolkit is always expanding. If you know of an RCR program for postdocs at your institution or in your community that you would like to share, please let us know.

Consultation and Technical Support

The NPA continues to offer on-going consultation for any Postdoc Offices and Associations interested in developing RCR programming for their postdocs. If you have questions or ideas, feel free to contact us.
