The 4th Annual National Postdoc Appreciation Week was held September 17 - 21, 2012, and during the week a total of 112 institutions in 32 states and Canada organized 203 events. Events ranged from BBQs and luncheons to workshops and speeches by distinguished guests. Thanks to everyone who planned, hosted, and participated in appreciation events. Your efforts helped to recognize the significant contributions that postdoctoral scholars make to U.S. research enterprise. Below are photos from some of the institutions that held National Postdoc Appreciation Week events.
University of Louisville
The University of Louisville held its 4th annual postdoc appreciation luncheon Thursday September 13, 2012. The early date was to avoid a scheduling conflict with the Institutional “Research!Louisville” event. Postdocs from around the campus were invited to the luncheon, which was catered by “Upper Crust” of Louisville. Dr. Marcia Cole, a recently hired Assistant Professor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, was invited to speak about the transition from post-doc to permanent position and how postdocs could prepare now for this next step in their professional career. There were door prizes and each postdoc received a canvas University of Louisville tote bag.
