Change of Format
This year, the popular PDO/PDA leadership sessions have been incorporated into the Annual Meeting. These interactive discussion sessions, titled "Innovation in Action," are now designed for all attendees.
 The Keynote Speaker
Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D.
Director, National Institutes of Health
"We are especially honored that Dr. Collins accepted our invitation to be the Keynote Speaker," said Stacy L.Gelhaus, Ph.D., Chair of the NPA Board of Directors. "He has expressed that improving the NIH training program is a priority, and we appreciate and commend his continued support of postdoctoral scholars."
Dr. Collins, a physician-geneticist noted for his landmark discoveries of disease genes and his leadership of the Human Genome Project, served as director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) at the NIH from 1993-2008... Follow this link to read Dr. Collins' official bio sketch.

Dr. Murrell will be speaking on mentoring. She is is the author (along with Crosby and Ely) of the book entitled Mentoring Dilemmas: Developmental Relationships within Multicultural Organizations and the recent book entitled Intelligent Mentoring: How IBM Creates Value through People, Knowledge and Relationships with Forte-Trummel and Bing. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Workshop
 Sponsored by the NIH Office of Intramural Training & Education (OITE)
 The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Intramural Research is offering a free Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Workshop to be held during the main program at the NPA Annual Meeting. You must elect to participate in this program.
The MBTI is a personality assessment tool that will help you to understand individual differences and uncover new ways to work and interact with others. This three-hour session uses the MBTI to help participants understand their own and others' styles in order to enhance individual and team performance at work, develop leadership skills, and reduce workplace conflict through improved interactions. The understanding gained from this workshop can benefit postdocs and administrators alike throughout their professional careers.
